Tutorial 1: Ears

To start with an easy one, we will begin with the ‘ears’!

An ear is composed by the outside helix, inner helix, tragus, triangular fossa, ear shell and ear lobe. Other than the ear lobe which is fat, the rest of ear parts are cartilage. Therefore, when drawing it you should be careful of the lighting and shades on different parts of the ear.

The physical structure of the ear is a shell-like, the entire outer contour is like a C shape. Therefore the top part is wide and the bottom part is narrower. When drawing the ear, you should pay attention at the connection of the side of the head and angle of the ears. Also note that there has to be a smooth connection between various parts of the ear and reflect the smooth lines and natural transition from the lines.

Hope it helps!
